Diamond Fluorescence

If you have ever heard of diamond fluorescence, then you may think it is very important. That said, you are better off making sure that the diamond has a high carat value, as well as good color and clarity. In some cases, you may find that diamonds capable of emitting different colors under certain lighting situations will not be as clear as other diamonds. Many of these diamonds have a bluish tint to them, or appear to have a milky film throughout. Unfortunately, if the film is too opaque, the diamond will not have the kind of brilliance that a clearer specimen might have.

Historically speaking, some of the most famous diamonds in the world have fluorescent properties. For example, the Hope Diamond appears red when in the presence of UV light. This type of change in such an enormous diamond can be impressive to watch. As may be expected, if you want to own a diamond that will behave in similar ways, then you will need to make sure that you pay attention to how it responds to UV lighting. Regardless of whether you read reports on mail order diamonds, or you ask to see fluorescent diamonds in person, you should always take note of the colour that is emitted.

Depending on the situation, you may feel that you would prefer a diamond with fluorescent properties. Among other things, these diamonds can exhibit more fire, as well as appear more brilliant. While you will see something very different if you get a close look at the stone, they will still look beautiful from a distance. That said, you should still try to find a stone that exhibits as much clarity as possible in order to make sure that the faceting truly enhances the light properties of the stone.

Individuals interested in buying diamonds that exhibit fluorescent properties should make it a point to shop around as much as possible.  For example, you will find that individual jewellers place a different value on these stones. While some will place a higher value on them, others prefer to sell them at a cheaper price. As may be expected, if you are just looking for to have one of these diamonds in your jewelry collection, then it pays to look for the cheapest option.  As you search around the internet, you are sure to find at least one jeweller that will give you a bargain price on this type of stone.
